Welcome to NordSecMob! http://www.tkk.fi/Units/CSE/NordSecMob/index.html

The Nordsecmob - Master's Programme in Security and Mobile Computing is a full-time Master of Science degree Programme with a duration of 2 years. During these two years, students will study at two of the five Nordic partner universities: Helsinki University of Technology (TKK) in Finland, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden, The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the University of Tartu (UT) in Estonia.

This programme is one of the 21 selected Masters Courses by the European Commission Erasmus Mundus programmes in 2005. The Erasmus Mundus programme is a co-operation and mobility programme in the field of higher education which promotes the European Union as a centre of excellence in learning around the world. It supports European top-quality Masters Courses and enhances the visibility and attractiveness of European higher education in third countries. It also provides EU-funded scholarships for third country nationals participating in these Masters Courses, as well as scholarships for EU-nationals studying in third countries.

The NordSecMob - Master's programme in Security and Mobile Computing will operate for at least five years beginning in September 2006. The NordSecMob-consortium and the development of a joint study programme is also supported by Nordic Council of Ministers in the framework of joint study programmes.

why a joint study programme in data security and mobile computing Nordic countries have been very innovative in mobile communication.

The first regional cellural network started there giving the telecom industry a very good starting point to the second and third generation networks and devides. They were pioneers in large scale internet-usage in Europe. The biggest on-line banking system in the world has covered the area of scandinavia ten years. A broadband Internet-connection is assumed as a public service. The requirements for mobile computing and security has created an industrial and scientific cluster in Nordic countries.

The participating universities are leading part of this cluster in their own countries in the scientific side. The field of data security is too large area to be covered totally in one university.

The Objectives
The objective of the programme is to enable students to acquire profound and wide knowledge in the field of computer science, data security and mobile computing, both in practice and in theory. The programme aims at developing the research skills of students to further studies at the PhD-level, gaining international research experience in R&D environments and give an access to major international networks.
